THE MAGIC OF CINEMA
A Magnum Touring Exhibition
13 June to 20 July 2008

Seen for the first time in Singapore & South East Asia, The Magic of Cinema is an exhibition of some 80 photographs taken by Magnum photographers over the years to capture the magic & appeal of cinema.

The photographs span over 50 years, echoing the history of the legendary photography agency founded by Henry Cartier-Bresson, David Seymour, Robert Capa & George Rodger.

Photographs in the exhibition include Asian cinema taken in India, China, Japan along with a selection of works related to Hollywood & the European film industries.

Featured are the enigmatic Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean, Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, Gong Li, Grace Kelly, Orson Welles. Alfred Hitchcock, Jean-Luc Godard and many more.

The Magic of Cinema exhibition is at The Cathay Gallery, level 2 of The Cathay from 13 June to 20 July.

The Cathay Gallery is located at 2 Handy Road, #02-16 The Cathay
Open Mondays to Saturdays, 12noon to 8pm. Closed on Sundays & Public Holidays. Admission is Free.
